Case Study: La Trobe University

Project

There is a high prevalence of sexual harm for university students and low rates of help-seeking or reporting of sexual harm.

A university-wide campaign was launched in Semester 1, 2024, aimed at:

  • Increasing awareness of how/where to report or seek support if someone has experienced sexual harm.
  • Increasing understanding of what sexual harm is/looks like.

Results

  • During the 10 weeks of the campaign, there was a 60% increase in reporting of sexual harm incidents.
  • 100% of surveyed students agreed that the campaign increased awareness of where to report at La Trobe if someone has experienced sexual harm.
  • 93% agreed that the campaign increased awareness of where to seek support at La Trobe if someone has experienced sexual harm.
  • An impressive total of 79% of respondents took action in direct response to the campaign.
